Physiotherapy is essentially the assessment and treatment of movement dysfunction.
Movement dysfunction can be
· large - not being able to walk due to a sprained ankle
· small - restriction at a spinal segment in the neck.
Both will cause pain and restrict normal functional ability.
Problems can occur in muscles, tendons or joints all of which can benefit from physiotherapy.Back and neck pain, recovery from fracture and orthopaedic surgery are all regularly and successfully treated with physiotherapy.
Sports Injury recovery requires an extended level of rehabilitation. The ankle sprain sustained falling down the stairs is the same as that on the football field, return to sporting activity is the difference. Treatment and rehabilitation must be appropriate for the sporting activity to which an individual wishes to return, 'Fit for Purpose'.
Your initial assessment will last about 1 hour and you will have the opportunity to discuss your problem with your physio before treatment. Subsequent treatments will last approximately 45 minutes depending on your condition.
We will be happy to discuss any questions you might have prior to attending for treatment, email rachelstovell@ashcroftclinic.com or call
